Top Secret Drum Corps

Seven young talented drummers who knew each other from the Basler Fasnacht and jointly cultivated the traditional Basel drumming, founded the group Top Secret in 1991. They wanted to play more than just carnival drum marches and began to mix the traditional Basel drumming style with other drum types as well as adding visual effects. This unique idea and the passion of the seven drummers quickly lead to national and international success.

Top Secret received an invitation to perform in the 2003 Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo in Scotland. In order to participate in Edinburgh, new drummers had to be recruited and trained to enlarge the group so that they could develop a marching show for the first time.

Since 2003 the drum corps went on to travel the world, from Russia to Canada, Australia to the Unites States, from South Africa to China and all over Europe. There have also been further performances at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo in 2006, 2009, 2012 ,2015, 2018 and 2022. Their exciting performances are well known for their precision, humour and thrilling tempo. Even Her Majesty Queen Elisabeth II couldn’t hide her smile when the Drum Crops performed for the Platinum Jubilee Celebration 2022 at Windsor Castle.

With twenty-plus years of passion, imagination and dedication, these top Basel drummers have proven themselves to be a sustainable world-class act.

Sieben junge, talentierte Trommler, welche sich von der Basler Fasnacht her kannten und gemeinsam die traditionelle Trommelkunst pflegten, gründeten im Jahre 1991 die Trommelgruppe Top Secret. Sie wollten mehr als nur Fasnachtsmärsche trommeln und begannen, den traditionellen Basler Trommelstil mit anderen Trommelarten und vor allem visuellen Effekten zu vermischen. Diese einzigartige Idee und das Herzblut, welches die sieben Tambouren investierten, führten schnell zu nationalen und internationalen Erfolgen.

Das Top Secret Drum Corps erhielt im 2003 erstmals die Anfrage am Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo in Schottland aufzutreten. Um in Edinburgh teilnehmen zu können, mussten neue Trommler rekrutiert und ausgebildet werden, um die Gruppe so zu vergrössern, dass sie erstmals eine Marchingshow konzipieren und einstudieren konnte. Seit diesen Auftritten in der schottischen Hauptstadt im 2003 reist das Drum Corps um die ganze Welt. Von Russland nach Kanada, von Australien in die USA, von Südafrika nach China und regelmässig quer durch Europa. Weitere Teilnahmen am Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo im 2006, 2009, 2012, 2015, 2018 und 2022 bildeten jeweils die Höhepunkte. Selbst Ihre Majestät Queen Elisabeth II. konnte sich ein Lächeln nicht verkneifen, als das Drum Crops bei der Platinum Jubilee Celebration 2022 auf Schloss Windsor auftrat.
